Fresh Organic Produce in Springfield: The SOC

Postby KatyD » Wed Feb 15, 2012 12:34 pm

Hello fellow neighbors,

Are you interested in affordable organic, seasonal and local produce available in our neighborhood?

We are organizing an organic produce co-op for our area. The name of it is The Springfield Organic Collective.

We will offer three bag sizes of organic fruits and vegetables. The contents will be seasonal, all organic, and as local as possible.

There is a one time deposit which holds your spot and helps to get the co-op up and off the ground.

Once we reach 25 members, we will start receiving produce.

If you have questions, want more information, or would like a membership form, please email springfieldorganiccollective@gmail.com or call 904-422-0402.

Have a wonderful day!

Yes, I will be getting the produce from a produce distributor. I have not decided which one yet. When I did San Marco Health Foods I worked between 3 different ones.

When I place the produce order, I choose the items that are grown in FL first, then GA then the East Coast and as a last resort items from CA. I always stay seasonal. And it is all 100% organic.

I have also worked with Down To Earth Farms in the past and have brought in items from their farm. And, when some of my previous customers had bumper crops they would bring in their goodies and we would dish those out as well.

This service is meant to be a filler for those of us who do not have flourishing gardens yet, but who still want great organic and local produce.

The quality is always superb because you receive the produce on the same day it arrives. Most items last at least 2 weeks.

The value is unsurpassed because it is on average much cheaper than if you were to buy your organic produce from another grocery store. I had a customer do price comparisons and it turned out that the exact same amount of produce in our Medium bag which costs $45 would cost $65 at another grocery store. Not too shabby:-)

I hope I've answered your question.

Take care,
Katy

Just curious how you are coming with the co-op? I mentioned it to my room mate and I think we might be interested. It sounds like a great plan.

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that we have started our produce days. They are every other Friday. Pick up is downtown between the hours of 12-2 pm and delivery is within Springfield on the same day after 4 pm.

Last week the produce bags contained: green beans, collards, cucumbers, FL avocados, grapes, strawberries and peaches.

If you are interested you can send an email to springfieldorganiccollective@gmail.com and I can send you a membership form. You can fill it out and mail a check for your membership fee, or you can email the form back and paypal your membership fee to springfieldorganiccollective@gmail.com

If there are any questions I can answer for you, please email or call any time:-)

Have a beautiful day!
